Mark Vancauteren is an Associate Professor in Applied Econometrics at Hasselt University and a Senior Researcher (one day per week) at Statistics Netherlands. He previously held postdoctoral positions at Tilburg University and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, and worked as a research fellow at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS). He obtained his PhD in Economics from Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain).

Thomas Ertl is an Austrian historian specializing in the high and late Middle Ages. Since October 2018 he has been Professor of High and Late Medieval History at the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institut, Freie Universität Berlin. Before that, he was a professor of social and economic history of the Middle Ages at the University of Vienna.
