Professor Hannes Bajohr's essay, “On Artificial and Post-Artificial Texts: Machine Learning and the Reading Expectations of Literary and Non-Literary Writing,” has been awarded the prestigious N. Katherine Hayles Award for Criticism of Electronic Literature.
Originally delivered as the Walter Höllerer Lecture at TU Berlin in December 2022, the essay explores how machine learning reshapes our expectations of literary and non-literary texts. After appearing as a preprint in the Basel Media Culture and Cultural Techniques Working Papers in 2023, the essay underwent significant revision and was published in Poetics Today in 2024.
