Professor Hannes Bajohr publishes "Thinking with AI: Machine Learning the Humanities"

August 15, 2025

In his new edited volume "Thinking _with_ AI: Machine Learning the Humanities" (Open Humanities Press, 2025, https://www.openhumanitiespress.org/books/titles/thinking-with-ai/), Professor Hannes Bajohr brings together leading scholars to explore a novel approach to artificial intelligence in the humanities: not merely writing _about_ AI, but thinking _with_ it. The essays in this open-access volume investigate how concepts from machine learning and data science can serve as intellectual tools to reconsider long-standing questions of meaning, representation, and culture, extending critical AI studies into productive engagements with aesthetics, language, history, and knowledge. Contributors include Peli Grietzer, Leif Weatherby, Mercedes Bunz, Fabian Offert, Lev Manovich, Babette Babich, Markus Krajewski, Orit Halpern, Christina Vagt, and Audrey Borowski.
