PARTICIPATING DEPARTMENTS: CELTIC STUDIES, COMPARATIVE LITERATURE, FRENCH, GERMAN, ITALIAN STUDIES PROGRAM, SCANDINAVIAN, SLAVIC and SPANISH & PORTUGUESE


  • WHEN: Monday, May 19, 2008 from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
  • WHERE: Ceremony - Zellerbach Hall; Reception - Ishi Court
  • WHO: Students completing their A.B., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees Fall 2007, Spring, Summer or Fall 2008. You may participate only once.

  2. MASTER OF CEREMONIES: Steven Botterill

  3. DEGREE LIST (Undergraduates only): N/A

  4. DIPLOMAS: Diplomas will be available at 120 Sproul Hall approximately four months after your "official" graduation. There is a form and a fee if you request that it be mailed to you. Click here for more information.

  5. CEREMONY: The ceremony will run approximately two to two and one-half hours, with a main speaker and then a (very) brief presentation by each department and the conferral of their degrees.

  6. TICKETS: We do not hand out tickets, as there is plenty of seating at Zellerbach. Please bring as many guests as you like to the ceremony. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.

  7. PHOTOGRAPHY: We will have a professional photographer on stage to take a photo of each graduate as they're receiving their scroll (represents a diploma). Students/parents will contract directly with the photographer to purchase photos after the event. Information will be available at the ceremony and with each contact person below.

  8. RECEPTION: The reception will be held at Ishi Court, Dwinelle (North Entrance) immediately following the ceremony.

  9. REGALIA: Cap and gown rental will be available through the Special Services Department at the Bear Student Stores. For more information, click here (Note: error in link please contact Cal Students Store at (510) 642-9000 directly for orders).

  10. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Graduation announcements are formal notices to send to family and friends announcing your graduation. Announcements come in two forms: generic or personalized. For more information, click here.
